I began painting on location in 2007 after taking a summer location course with the late illustrator, Jeffrey Fisher. I find this style of painting so freeing and joyful as I love exploring nature, finding different places to paint! It's rare that I finish a painting in one sitting, although many plain are painters do! Instead, I begin my painting and take lots of reference pictures noting the space, time of day and light. I then continue to work on the paintings in my home studio, often times toggling between two and three paintings. I do this because it helps me look at each painting with fresh eyes, rather than spending my time absorbed in one painting. My plein aire collection has been featured in several dual shows with my husband Stelios at the Knox School Solarium Gallery, Gallery East in Greenport and the North Shore Library. I've also been featured in local exhibitions such as Gallery North's "Wet Paint Festival" and PAC MOCA's "Paint the Great South Bay." In 2018 I won 1st place in PAC MOCA's "Paint the Great South Bay" exhibit, and in 2019, I won 3rd place in the same exhibit. My paintings are for sale and are available in giclee or original if still available. I also take personal commissions and can be sent to most locations on Long Island.
